Dirt Germs And Sins

Dirt and germs are physical. They are not spiritual. They can make our bodies ill or kill us. They can cause physical death but they do not cause spiritual and eternal death. And they are not the only cause of physical death. There are many other causes of that. Our sins are the root cause of our physical death. Sins can separate us from God forever. Dirt and germs cannot do that. Sin causes physical death, spiritual death and eternal death. So which are more important to get rid of, dirt and germs or sins? Many individuals in our society wisely try to avoid dirt and germs. Some seem obsessed with that. But they tolerate their sins which do much more and longer-lasting damage than dirt and germs. Would to God we would be as obsessed with getting rid of our sins as with getting rid of dirt and germs. After all, God created us out of a rather unstable form of dirt. He created us out of dust. I wonder if dirt and dust before the first sin were laden with germs as they are now? Satan and the ground were cursed at that time.

Genesis 3:14, 17: And the LORD God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life: 17 And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life;

Getting rid of our sin problem is immeasurably more important than getting rid of our dirt and germ problem. God can keep us alive in spite of dirt and germs or He can permit them to end our mortal lives and end our chances to get rid of our sin. The wages of sin is always death but the wages of germs is not always death.

Romans 6:23: For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Ezekiel 18:4b: . . . the soul that sinneth, it shall die.

Getting rid of dirt and germs is a good thing but there are many solutions to that problem and only one solution to our sin problem, the blood of Jesus Christ.

Revelation 1:5: And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,

2 Corinthians 5:21: For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

When Jesus died on that cruel cross He was paid the wages of our sin, yours and mine. Those who reject Him reject His sacrifice and will have to be paid the wages of their sin themselves.
